With the successful fundraising for the Library Expansion project over, the Friends of the Library continue to raise funds to support library programming, special events and expenditures for items not in the regular budget.
The Friends donation of $10,000 to the Library enabled them to leverage the money as matching funds for a Rasmuson Tier 1 grant. The Friends funds largely paid for the new Self-check machine located in the main room.
Friends of the Library monies helped the library augment a gift of Legos from the Alaska State Library with a storage cart and even more Legos to help start and continue the Lego club.
Through grant funding, The Friends have created a core collection of Mental Health materials, worked with the Kenai Senior Center to create a lending library of Dementia and Alzheimer’s materials and installed in the Library a museum quality display case for a collection of Native Alaskan dolls and beadwork.
